Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team led by Foreign Affairs Minister-nominee Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa of flying drones over his private properties in an alleged surveillance operation.<\/p>\n
The Effutu legislator claimed that he was informed by his associates of the suspicious activity on multiple occasions but chose to remain silent, insisting that he has nothing to hide and that all his assets were acquired legally.<\/p>\n
He said this on Sunday, February 2, 2025.<\/p>\n
The Minority Leader’s revelation follows Mr. Ablakwa\u2019s disclosure of some details about Mr. Afenyo-Markin\u2019s properties during his vetting on Friday, January 31.<\/p>\n
\u201cBefore his vetting, ask Ablakwa whether we didn\u2019t sit as brothers. I said, \u2018Sammy, there were things that you went overboard. I think if you make concessions, we\u2019ll be fine,\u2019\u201d Afenyo-Markin recounted.<\/p>\n
Despite their discussion, he claims Ablakwa\u2019s ORAL team continued its surveillance activities.<\/p>\n
\u201cMeanwhile, I was aware that these ORAL guys have been flying drones in Winneba over my property. I kept quiet. I managed it. They went to my beachfront property, mounted a drone, and flew it from the community center near the \u2018nshorna.\u2019 My boy saw it. I told them to ignore it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the alleged drone surveillance was not limited to Winneba but also targeted his residence in Abelenkpe and other properties.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn Abelenkpe, you\u2019ll be there in the morning, and you\u2019ll see drones flying. The policemen have seen it. They told me, but I said ignore it. Sometimes, early in the morning, we see drones behind the rail line, and I know they are spying on my house. What business do drones have at the Minority Leader\u2019s residence?\u201d he questioned.<\/p>\n
Alexander Afenyo-Markin further refuted claims that his lands in Winneba are state-owned, describing it as a misrepresentation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe gentleman brought a search report and created the impression that my lands in Winneba are state lands. With the greatest respect [they are not],\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
