President John Dramani Mahama has praised the Absa Black Star Marathon, describing it as a growing part of Ghana\u2019s tourism experience.
\nSpeaking at the opening ceremony of the event in Accra on Saturday, July 26, he noted that: “The Black Star Marathon has become a part of Ghana\u2019s tourism experience, and we\u2019ve labeled it the Black Star experience. I\u2019m lending my presence to it today to show how important this project is for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also expressed excitement about the international turnout, promising government’s support to make it the best in the continent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy to see this beautiful turnout. So many athletes are here from 28 different nations.\u201d
\nThough he admitted he has never run a marathon, he encouraged and admired those who took part.
\n\u201cI\u2019ve never run a marathon before. I don\u2019t have the energy to run a marathon. But I admire all of you who attempt to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2025 Absa Black Star Marathon attracted runners from across the world, competing in various categories including 42km, 21km, and 10km races.
