Former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee against Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue, has declared his support for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful and businessman Kennedy Agyapong, describing him as the kind of empathetic and results-oriented leader Ghana needs for real transformation.<\/p>\n
Speaking in an interview with \u00a0News reporters<\/em>\u00a0on Thursday, September 11, Bissue argued that Agyapong\u2019s entrepreneurial background and strong connection with the grassroots uniquely position him to tackle Ghana\u2019s economic challenges and reduce dependence on external institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.<\/p>\n \u201cI have confidence in Kennedy Agyapong because for him, empathy [and] compassion\u2026 you know, hitherto we look at politics from the point where we come up with a lot of theories and then in the end we say IMF or World Bank, when I think that we should have factored all those in,\u201d Bissue stated.<\/p>\n He expressed frustration over Ghana\u2019s continued reliance on imports despite its vast natural resources, stressing the need for a shift toward value addition and industrialisation.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I think having an entrepreneur as our leader, I think it will actually transform Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n Bissue further noted that Agyapong\u2019s close ties with ordinary Ghanaians and his private-sector experience make him a strong contender who resonates with public sentiment.<\/p>\n \u201cLooking at the qualities of Kennedy, most Ghanaians are saying that \u2018bring Kennedy, we will vote for him,\u2019\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee against Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue, has declared his support for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful and businessman Kennedy Agyapong, describing him as the kind of empathetic and results-oriented leader Ghana needs for real transformation.
