The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has declared that the party will not be intimidated by what it describes as deliberate attempts by State institutions to target and silence its members.<\/p>\n
Speaking to news reported\u00a0 during the \u201cY\u025bn Suro Ahunahuna\u201d<\/em>\u00a0protest in Accra, organised by the NPP\u2019s National Youth Wing under Salam Mustapha, Nana B accused the police of showing clear bias in their handling of political cases.<\/p>\n He cited the arrest of Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC), alongside activists such as Sir Obama and Fante Comedy, who were publicly handcuffed and paraded after their arrests.<\/p>\n According to him, similar treatment is never given to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/p>\n \u201cWhy do we have different laws for NPP and different laws for NDC? That is what we are protesting against the weaponisation of State institutions against the opposition. This is deliberate, a clear orchestration against the NPP. We will not be intimidated,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n On the petition to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Nana B criticised what he described as \u201crepressive\u201d bail conditions imposed on party members, insisting they are being used as a form of punishment.<\/p>\n \u201cYou arrest somebody and then impose onerous bail conditions. That is most unfortunate. We are telling the President, who claims to be an embodiment of democracy, to ensure these institutions stop the harassment.
