Wontumi is reported to have claimed that the decision to hold the presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, was designed to favour a particular aspirant. Abronye is also said to have claimed that he compiles the Bono Regional album and would prevent certain individuals from voting.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"1099\">However, Wontumi has clarified his comments made in his engagement with the grassroots indicating that that his comments merely reflected feedback from party supporters on how the NPP could strategise for a comeback.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1101\" data-end=\"1359\">Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Sunday, September 28, Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong\u2019s campaign team, condemned the remarks by Wontumi and Abronye, describing them as \u201creckless\u201d, \u201cdivisive\u201d and in violation of the NPP\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_ad jeg_ad_article jnews_content_inline_2_ads  \">\n<div class=\"ads-wrapper align-center \">\n<div class=\"ads_shortcode\">\n<div class=\"a-single a-10\">\u201cWe\u2019re calling for a disciplinary process\u2026 if you are found culpable, the organ of the party that is clothed with the power to administer disciplinary procedures will proffer the proper sanctions or punishment to you. We\u2019re saying that until the party takes decisive action, that action is going to weaken the party and dent the image of the party out there,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-start=\"1735\" data-end=\"1815\">He insisted that merely distancing the party from the comments was not enough.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1817\" data-end=\"2431\">\u201cAny right-thinking member of our party and extension any right-thinking Ghanaian will find these comments unfortunate, it is divisive and designed to break the party. It was unfortunate for those comments to have been made. It\u2019s in clear violation of the party\u2019s constitution. It undermines the credible electoral process we\u2019re all taking as a party. It abhors principles of unity. It\u2019s so bad, it\u2019s so condemnable; they were reckless. The party distancing itself alone is not enough. They should be seen publicly to have condemned those reckless, unfortunate statements that were made by these two individuals.<\/p>\n<div class=\"google-anno-skip google-anno-sc\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\" aria-label=\"Ghana travel guide\" data-google-vignette=\"false\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\">They should summon them to face disciplinary action. It is a clear act of violation of the party\u2019s constitution and misconduct.
