Ghanaian DStv subscribers are set to enjoy significantly improved service offerings following what the government describes as a major concession by MultiChoice Africa.<\/p>\n
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has announced that MultiChoice Africa has committed to an \u201cunprecedented increased value offer\u201d specifically for the Ghanaian market.<\/p>\n
The move comes after weeks of regulatory pressure and negotiations over DStv pricing in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cMultiChoice Africa has committed to an unprecedented increase in value offer only in Ghana, which will result in Ghanaian DStv subscribers getting more services for less,\u201d the Minister stated.<\/p>\n
Under the new arrangement, subscribers on the Paddy bouquet will be upgraded to\u00a0Access,\u00a0<\/strong>while subscribers on the Access bouquet will automatically be upgraded to\u00a0Family<\/strong>, and those on the\u00a0Family bouquet<\/strong>\u00a0will move up to\u00a0Compact<\/strong>. Subscribers on\u00a0Compact<\/strong>\u00a0will be upgraded to\u00a0Compact Plus<\/strong>, and those on\u00a0Compact Plus<\/strong>\u00a0will enjoy access to the\u00a0Premium bouquet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Minister further explained that subscribers already on the\u00a0Premium bouquet<\/strong>\u00a0will not be left out \u2014 they will automatically be entered into a draw for a chance to win a fully paid trip to Dubai.<\/p>\n This arrangement will run for the next three months, after which the committee will reconvene to review the packages.<\/p>\n The announcement came at a press briefing scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2025, where the Minister officially presented the report of the stakeholder committee tasked with reviewing DStv\u2019s pricing structure and operations in Ghana.<\/p>\n The committee, established by the National Communications Authority (NCA) on the Minister\u2019s directive, began work on September 8, 2025. It was tasked with evaluating the fairness and commercial viability of DStv subscription fees, and addressing public concerns over affordability and service delivery.<\/p>\n The negotiations between the government and MultiChoice Ghana has been marked by tension, with the Minister repeatedly threatening regulatory action if price reductions were not implemented.
