The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has expressed satisfaction with the state of Ghana\u2019s economy, declaring that the country is on a path of recovery and stability after years of economic turbulence.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday during the House\u2019s resumption, Mahama Ayariga said his interactions and committee engagements during the recess revealed significant progress across key sectors of the economy \u2014 from energy and education to fiscal management.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr Speaker, I\u2019m proud to say that so far, so excellent. The energy sector is doing very well, and electricity has remained on and is powering growth. The economy is rebounding, and Ghana once again is gaining economic respectability globally \u2014 so far, so excellent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Bawku Central MP highlighted improvements in the performance of the cedi, a decline in inflation, and prudent government spending as key indicators of progress.<\/p>\n
According to him, Ghana\u2019s inflation rate has dropped to single digits, prices are easing, and the cost of living is gradually becoming more affordable for ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ghana cedi is gaining strength and stabilising. Inflation has come down to single digits, prices are coming down, and life is becoming affordable to the ordinary Ghanaian \u2014 so far, so excellent,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Mahama Ayariga further noted that the government was meeting its debt obligations without accumulating \u201cneedless debt,\u201d stressing that fiscal discipline and targeted expenditure had improved. He praised the education sector, particularly the Free SHS programme, saying it remained fully funded and stable.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur schools are functioning well, and Free SHS is well funded. We have not experienced any disruption of the school year calendar in our constituencies \u2014 so far, so excellent,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
The Bank of Ghana has also reported relative stability in the cedi and declining inflation rates since mid-2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
