The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has refuted claims of tension between the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Office of the Attorney General (AG), Dr Dominic Ayine, regarding the handling of the extradition case involving former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, October 30, Mr. Agyebeng said the two institutions are working together and that reports of disagreement are unfounded.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate that there\u2019s been talk about dockets, and we\u2019ve refused to give the docket and all. That is beside the point; that is not the issue at all,\u201d he stated. \u201cThe issue is that you need to get it right the first time; you don\u2019t keep going back and forth.\u201d<\/p>\n
He emphasised that Ofori-Atta will still be extradited even if he has US citizenship, adding that the OSP remains committed to pursuing the case in collaboration with the Attorney General\u2019s office<\/p>\n
\u201cUS citizenship status doesn\u2019t prevent extradition.
