{"id":14222,"date":"2025-11-06T10:51:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T10:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=14222"},"modified":"2025-11-06T10:51:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T10:51:07","slug":"christmas-tree-controversy-was-overblown-and-political-paul-dom-otchere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=14222","title":{"rendered":"Christmas tree controversy was overblown and political \u2014 Paul dom-Otchere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Board Chair of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, has described the controversy surrounding the company\u2019s Christmas tree decorations as \u201cmuch ado about nothing,\u201d insisting that the issue was politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in a one-on-one interview on the\u00a0<em>AM Show<\/em>, the\u00a0<em>Good Evening Ghana<\/em>\u00a0host said he was fully cleared by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) after an investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, that Christmas tree\u2014that was quite a much ado about nothing. It was really political,\u201d Adom-Otchere said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEventually, the matter went to CHRAJ, and I appeared before them. CHRAJ gave a ruling that, we believe, completely exonerated us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He expressed disappointment that CHRAJ declined his request to have the public hearing filmed, saying that would have prevented misinformation about the outcome of the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only disappointment I had with CHRAJ was that when I went in, I told them I wanted this filmed. It was a public hearing, and I didn\u2019t want anyone misrepresenting the ruling. They declined, and so when the ruling came and people were picking parts of it, I told them this was exactly why I wanted it filmed,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<div class=\"autors-widget\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>The \u201cChristmas tree saga,\u201d which sparked public criticism in late 2022, centred on claims of financial impropriety over GACL\u2019s purchase and installation of Christmas decorations at the Kotoka International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>The company, then under Adom-Otchere\u2019s board chairmanship, maintained that the expenditure was modest and properly approved.<\/p>\n<p>The CHRAJ ruling later cleared the GACL of any wrongdoing.\u00a0 Adom-Otchere said he hopes the controversy will be seen in hindsight as an exaggerated episode driven by politics rather than substance.<\/p>\n<p>Disclaimer: The content provided on Fish FM Online is for informational and entertainment purposes only.
