The defamation lawsuits filed by gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye against Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, have been brought to a close after the parties reached an amicable settlement, which included a GH\u00a2100,000 payment.<\/p>\n
According to Richard Asare Baffour, lawyer for Agradaa, the settlement was on January 20, 2026, adopted as a Consent Judgment by both the Tema Land Court and the Tema Main Court, formally ending the two cases filed in May and June 2025.<\/p>\n
Empress Gifty had sued Evangelist Asiedua over a series of social media publications she described as defamatory and damaging to her reputation. In her claims, the gospel singer sought GH\u00a240 million in damages for alleged slander and libel.<\/p>\n
She also requested a perpetual injunction to restrain further defamatory publications, the removal of the offending content from social media, and an award covering full legal costs.<\/p>\n
However, following negotiations between the parties, the matter was resolved without proceeding to a full trial.<\/p>\n
Under the terms of the settlement, Evangelist Patricia Asiedua agreed to pay GH\u00a2100,000 to Empress Gifty to cover legal fees and related expenses.<\/p>\n
She also committed to publicly retracting the statements, issuing a public apology, and requesting that the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) facilitate the removal of the disputed publications from social media platforms.<\/p>\n
Richard Asare Baffour confirmed that all the agreed conditions have been fulfilled. The GH\u00a2100,000 has been paid in full, and a public apology has already been rendered in line with the settlement terms.<\/p>\n
