A trader who allegedly dressed in a military uniform to woo a nurse at the 37 Military Hospital has appeared before the Adabraka District Court.<\/p>\n
Joseph Baadah admitted he was not a soldier and told the court he wore the uniform to impress a nurse he had fallen in love with.<\/p>\n
He has been charged with using military accoutrements without lawful authority and falsely pretending to be a public officer. Baadah pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n
The court admitted him to bail in the sum of GH\u00a230,000 with sureties. He is to reappear on March 24, 2026.
\nProsecution, led by Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana, told the court that the complainant was WOI Fiamegu Mascow of the Military Police Detachment of the Ghana Armed Forces, Burma Camp.<\/p>\n
The prosecution said Baadah, a 34-year-old trader residing at Agbogbloshie in Accra, was spotted on February 8, 2026, at about 1800 hours, wearing a military camouflage uniform over a pair of slippers at the Dispensary Gate of the Hospital.<\/p>\n
He was reportedly without a rank, lanyard, name tag or shoulder badge.<\/p>\n
According to the prosecution, his appearance aroused suspicion, and he was confronted by the complainant.
\nIt was subsequently established that Baadah was a civilian and not a soldier, as he had portrayed himself.<\/p>\n
He was arrested and escorted to the Military Police Headquarters at Burma Camp for further interrogation and later handed over to the Nima Divisional Police.<\/p>\n
In his caution statement, Baadah admitted the offence and stated that he wore the camouflage uniform to woo a female nurse he had met at the hospital the previous day.<\/p>\n
He told investigators he was only trying to impress the nurse by posing as a member of the Ghana Armed Forces.<\/p>\n
The prosecution further told the court that Baadah said he purchased the camouflage uniform from a secondhand clothes dealer, popularly known as \u201cFose Bale,\u201d at the Kantamanto Market in Accra.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
