The Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, Dr. Yussif Sulemana, has assured that Ghana is not facing an immediate fuel supply shortage despite rising tensions in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
His comments come amid concerns about a possible oil crisis following the ongoing conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran, which analysts say could disrupt global oil supply routes.<\/p>\n
Global oil markets have seen significant volatility in recent days, with crude oil prices climbing above $100 per barrel for the first time since 2022.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, March 9, 2026, Dr. Sulemana said Ghana currently has sufficient fuel stocks to meet demand in the short term.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are not immediately threatened by the supply or the availability of the product. What we are immediately threatened with is the price. Are we able to maintain the price? That is a big question that we are looking at,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that while global supply disruptions could eventually affect markets, Ghana\u2019s immediate focus is on ensuring that adequate fuel stocks remain available.<\/p>\n
According to him, TOR has been working closely with the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to maintain stable supply levels.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have only to ensure that we maintain the availability of supply. After we made the announcement, we have been working closely with the NPA, and they have given us the assurance that we can go beyond the five weeks,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Dr. Sulemana further revealed that additional fuel shipments are already in the country\u2019s ports and will soon be discharged, which could significantly extend Ghana\u2019s fuel reserves.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have some ships that have been docked at the harbour, ready to discharge. So, if these ships are discharged, we can go up to 10 weeks,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
