Monday presents Otto Addo and his Black Stars side with an opportunity to win back the trust of Ghanaians following their heavy loss to Austria.<\/p>\n
Ghana suffered a 5-1 defeat to Austria last Friday in their first friendly of the March international break in Vienna raising loads of questions about the team’s preparedness for the 2026 World Cup.<\/p>\n
While the scoreline was damning, it was the performance on the day that was even worse as Ghanaians slammed the attitude of the players in the loss.<\/p>\n
The 5-1 defeat was also Ghana’s heaviest loss since 2007.<\/p>\n
But the game against Germany gives the players and the technical team a new chance to correct their shortcomings in Vienna.<\/p>\n
This will be the first meeting between Ghana and Germany since the group stage clash at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.<\/p>\n
In all, there have been three games between the Black Stars and Germany, with the latter claiming two wins while one had ended in a draw.<\/p>\n
What has been said<\/strong><\/p>\n A lot has been said going into Monday’s fixture from the point of the two coaches.<\/p>\n For Otto Addo, whose pressure continues to grow, he looks forward to his side improving from their last outing.<\/p>\n “We have had a lot to analyse since Friday’s defeat, which was a big, big blow for us in our preparation. We were actually optimistic to at least have a good game. But after the first half, and let\u2019s say two unnecessary goals, we fell apart,” he said.<\/p>\n “So we had a lot of things to talk through and analyse through, surely even though we will have very strong opponents, we are very, very optimistic that we can handle the situation.”<\/p>\n
