{"id":3521,"date":"2024-03-01T04:21:25","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T04:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=3521"},"modified":"2024-03-01T04:22:42","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T04:22:42","slug":"anti-lgbtq-bill-akufo-addo-is-a-smart-politician-he-will-sign-it-foh-amoaning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=3521","title":{"rendered":"Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill: Akufo-Addo Is A Smart Politician, He Will Sign It \u2013 Foh-Amoaning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Executive Secretary for the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has said they await assent of the anti-LGBTQ+ Bill by the President.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, the passage of the bill is not to criminalize individuals, but to provide care, treatment, and support for those grappling with gender identity and sexual orientation challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stated, \u201cThe focus of the Coalition is not to criminalize or dump people in prisons\u2026those people who get caught in these challenges, we were very clear in our mind that what they needed was care treatment and support, and it\u2019s in the bill.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said this in an interview on the 3FM Sunrise Morning Show with Johnnie Hughes on February 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"ose-youtube ose-uid-f4d6d98371b31c90a5679312db414140 ose-embedpress-responsive\" style=\"width:400px; height:400px; max-height:400px; max-width:100%; display:inline-block;\" data-embed-type=\"Youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sAAtbrE4fuU?feature=oembed&color=red&rel=0&controls=1&start=&end=&fs=0&iv_load_policy=0&autoplay=0&mute=0&modestbranding=0&cc_load_policy=1&playsinline=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; encrypted-media;accelerometer;autoplay;clipboard-write;gyroscope;picture-in-picture clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen referrerpolicy=\"origin\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding to criticisms from individuals such as Audrey Gadzekpo and the evolution of perspectives within Ghanaian society, particularly mentioning Member of Parliament Sam George, Foh-Amoaning stressed the importance of education and understanding in shaping viewpoints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained, \u201cSam himself has been educated by relating with us. He has understood how false this whole human rights argument is, and when I listen to Audrey, she\u2019s only talking standard LGBT template arguments. So, Sam probably then was not educated and he tells me that is the thing that pushed him and made him realize this is serious.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. Foh-Amoaning addressed the political dimension of their advocacy, citing constitutional principles and the promotion of Ghanaian values as the foundation of their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasized, \u201cIf you say we\u2019re political you are right because that\u2019s what we are engaged in, we want to ensure that the people of this country are protected and that\u2019s what the Constitution says.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding the potential response of President Nana Akufo-Addo to the bill, Foh-Amoaning expressed confidence in the President\u2019s alignment with Ghanaian values and emphasized the political implications of any decision he will take.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, the President is a very smart politician and what I\u2019ve told everybody who\u2019s asked me this question is, first of all there\u2019s no President who has ascended the presidency of Ghana who has used the word of God more than this President. So, the point I\u2019m trying to make is, with all that I know about the President, I know he will sign this bill\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He warned of significant consequences for the ruling party should the President choose not to sign the bill, predicting electoral repercussions and potential loss of support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf he refuses to sign it would be very easy the NDC will just package the NPP as Trumu Trumu party\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Foh-Amoaning reiterated the Coalition\u2019s commitment to promoting Ghanaian family values and protecting the interests of the nation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Executive Secretary for the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has said they await assent of the anti-LGBTQ+ Bill by the President.
