{"id":5427,"date":"2024-05-04T11:38:38","date_gmt":"2024-05-04T11:38:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=5427"},"modified":"2024-05-04T11:38:40","modified_gmt":"2024-05-04T11:38:40","slug":"fda-discovers-expired-food-items-at-zuarungu-shs-storeroom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=5427","title":{"rendered":"FDA discovers expired food items at Zuarungu SHS storeroom"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has confiscated some expired food items from the Zuarungu Senior High School in the Upper East region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This follows an unannounced&nbsp;visit&nbsp;to the school and subsequent inspection of the facility&#8217;s storerooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the confiscated items were multiple brands of products, including mackerel, wheat flour, evaporated filled milk, tomato paste, and tomato sauce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to Citi News, Sebastian Mawuli Hotor, the FDA\u2019s Upper East Regional Director, stressed on the importance of ensuring that food supplies in educational facilities meet FDA safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He warned that, non-compliance would lead to penalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe went to Zuarungu SHS for one of\u00a0the school kitchen inspections that we do.\u00a0In one of their storerooms, we found about five different brands of products which were\u00a0bad\u00a0and\u00a0then I think one out of them was unregistered as well. These were products that&nbsp;were supplied&nbsp;to the school for feeding the children. As part of our mandate, we confiscated them and took them for safe disposal.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. Hotor also stated that,&nbsp;such inspections will be repeated&nbsp;periodically to enforce food safety guidelines across all food establishments, including school kitchens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">.&#8221;..&nbsp;this&nbsp;is something we will repeat from time to time&nbsp;just&nbsp;to ensure that food safety guidelines are adhered to in all food establishments&nbsp;including&nbsp;food kitchens,\u201d&nbsp;he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the school is&nbsp;yet to respond to the issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has confiscated some expired food items from the Zuarungu Senior High School in the Upper East region.
