{"id":5863,"date":"2024-05-20T08:44:46","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T08:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=5863"},"modified":"2024-05-20T08:44:49","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T08:44:49","slug":"cedi-woes-ieas-kwakye-to-suggest-firefighting-short-term-medium-term-long-term-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=5863","title":{"rendered":"Cedi woes: IEA\u2019s Kwakye to suggest \u2018firefighting, short-term, medium-term &amp; long-term\u2019 options"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Dr. John Kwakye, has announced that he would be suggesting real, better ways to tackle the woes of the Cedi.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have all performed badly in managing the local currency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He recounted that the NDC, during their tenure, took the cedi-dollar rate from 1.20 at the end of 2008 to 4.20 at the end of 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, the governing NPP has taken it from 4.20 to 13.77 as of 16th May 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBoth are very abysmal.
