{"id":6205,"date":"2024-05-29T11:09:47","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T11:09:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=6205"},"modified":"2024-05-29T11:09:49","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T11:09:49","slug":"were-holding-the-line-in-this-election-year-so-we-dont-overspend-finance-minister-assures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=6205","title":{"rendered":"We\u2019re holding the line in this election year so we don\u2019t overspend \u2013 Finance Minister assures"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Minister for Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has assured that the government will not overspend on this election year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Miister said this while inviting the Investor Community to support Ghana\u2019s steady economic recovery, especially as her growth outperforms projections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that, Ghana was currently the working harder to ease the cost of doing business through pragmatic policies and stakeholder engagements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Minister made this known at a side meeting with Rand Merchant Bank Investors at the ongoing 2024 African Development Bank Annual Meetings in Nairobi, Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reiterated the Government\u2019 of Ghana\u2019s strong commitment to remain fiscally prudent to stay within expenditure margins this election year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"ose-youtube ose-uid-9d1be313e3403af1c84f23ce7f478b33 ose-embedpress-responsive\" style=\"width:400px; height:400px; max-height:400px; max-width:100%; display:inline-block;\" data-embed-type=\"Youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ftk6DbgeMNo?feature=oembed&color=red&rel=0&controls=1&start=&end=&fs=0&iv_load_policy=0&autoplay=0&mute=0&modestbranding=0&cc_load_policy=1&playsinline=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; encrypted-media;accelerometer;autoplay;clipboard-write;gyroscope;picture-in-picture clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen referrerpolicy=\"origin\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that part of the motivation for this stance is to satisfy a necessary pre-condition for the success of the country\u2019s engagement with the IMF programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cInflation is trending downwards from 54percent in 2022 to 25percent today and is expected to go to 15percent by the end of the year and as a government, interest rate has also gone down, we are holding the line in this election year so we dont overspend\u201d he disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, government has initiated deliberate programmes to support the Small and Medium Enterprises, as they provided employment and contributed significantly to the country\u2019s GDP.&nbsp; The support mechanisms, he said included access to finance, market opportunities, digital marketing and managerial expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe growth we are looking at requires sustainable investment and that is why we continue to count on your esteemed partnership\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Minister was joined by the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs Elsie Addo Awadzi, Officials of the Ministry of Finance, Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Investment and Infrastructure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister for Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has assured that the government will not overspend on this election year.
