{"id":6966,"date":"2024-07-12T13:35:09","date_gmt":"2024-07-12T13:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=6966"},"modified":"2024-07-12T13:35:12","modified_gmt":"2024-07-12T13:35:12","slug":"i-did-not-mean-to-denigrate-nkrumah-or-any-president-napo-apologises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=6966","title":{"rendered":"\u2018I did not mean to denigrate Nkrumah or any President\u2019 \u2013 NAPO apologises"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Running mate to the New Patriotic Party\u2019s flagbearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has apologised for his comparison of President Akufoo-Addo\u2019s contribution to Ghana\u2019s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Opoku Prempeh usually referred to as NAPO in statement on July 12 said his comment were not meant to denigrate the former President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI wish to emphasise that I never meant to disrespect our former President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah or any of our former heads of state, including my own grand uncle and mentor, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor,\u201d his statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former Energy Minister added that he\u2019s noted the concerns raised after his statement and \u201cregret any discomfort caused.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NAPO\u2019s apologies is coming days after his statement has been met with condemnation even from some party stalwarts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that his comment reflects his personal opinion about President Akufo-Addo\u2019s impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"508\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/NAPO-apology.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6967\" style=\"width:1165px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/NAPO-apology.jpg 508w, https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/NAPO-apology-212x300.jpg 212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 508px) 100vw, 508px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It would be recalled that on July 9, the newly unveiled running mate to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh said that no president in the history of Ghana has helped to develop the country more than President Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia\u2019s running mate, since taking over the presidency of Ghana, President Akufo-Addo has steered affairs of the country to the admiration of all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI can boldly say that if the history of Ghana is told from 1957, we have never had a president that has helped Ghana more than Nana Akufo-Addo.
