{"id":7109,"date":"2024-07-16T08:52:16","date_gmt":"2024-07-16T08:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=7109"},"modified":"2024-07-16T08:52:19","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T08:52:19","slug":"such-acts-of-politically-motivated-violence-undermine-democracy-akufo-addo-on-assassination-attempt-on-trump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=7109","title":{"rendered":"Such acts of politically-motivated violence undermine democracy \u2013 Akufo-Addo on assassination attempt on Trump."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The assassination attempt on former President of the United States of America Donald Trump undermines the democracy and peace of the United States and the world at large, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Akufo-Addo condemned the assassination attempt on Trump after sending heartfelt wishes and to Trump and the people of America during this \u2018difficult time\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a post on his X platform, Mr Akufo-Addo said \u201cOn behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I condemn in the strongest terms the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania, with Secret Service agents swarming the former president after a series of gunshots. He was quickly bundled off stage and into a waiting vehicle and has since returned home to New Jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FBI say they are treating the incident as an assassination attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"ose-youtube ose-uid-5aead77ded77e7fac65d8f5198940244 ose-embedpress-responsive\" style=\"width:400px; height:400px; max-height:400px; max-width:100%; display:inline-block;\" data-embed-type=\"Youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wV4rgvOoAMw?feature=oembed&color=red&rel=0&controls=1&start=&end=&fs=0&iv_load_policy=0&autoplay=0&mute=0&modestbranding=0&cc_load_policy=1&playsinline=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; encrypted-media;accelerometer;autoplay;clipboard-write;gyroscope;picture-in-picture clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen referrerpolicy=\"origin\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a post to his Truth Social network, Trump said a bullet pierced the \u201cupper part\u201d of his right ear. Earlier, his spokesperson said he was receiving treatment at a local medical centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,\u201d Trump wrote. \u201cMuch bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FBI statement added that the incident is an \u201cactive and ongoing investigation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pennsylvania police say there are no further threats following the shooting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The assassination attempt on former President of the United States of America Donald Trump undermines the democracy and peace of the United States and the world at large, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said.
