{"id":7246,"date":"2024-07-21T16:59:29","date_gmt":"2024-07-21T16:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=7246"},"modified":"2024-07-21T16:59:32","modified_gmt":"2024-07-21T16:59:32","slug":"85-year-old-bridge-poses-risk-to-denkyembour-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=7246","title":{"rendered":"85-year-old bridge poses risk to Denkyembour residents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents traveling from Asamankese, Akwatia, and Boadua, Kade, New Abirem, and other parts of the Eastern Region have expressed concern over the poor condition of a bridge that connects the towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to them, the 85-year-old bridge has become a death trap and urgently needs repair or replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to Adom News, the residents said the bridge urge the government to prioritize fixing the bridge for them<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drivers and commuters using the Boadua to Kade road said given the current condition of the bridge, a reconstruction is better than temporary repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"858\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-07-21-at-12-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7248\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-07-21-at-12-1.jpg 858w, https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-07-21-at-12-1-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-07-21-at-12-1-768x439.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-07-21-at-12-1-750x428.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 858px) 100vw, 858px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The residents lamented that the bridge which has been in a dilapidated state for years must be fixed to save lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response to these concerns, the Denkyembour District Assembly Engineer, Davor Wonder, asked residents for patience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He acknowledged that although he had previously alerted the Ghana Highways Authority about the bridge\u2019s condition, the district lacks the financial resources to build a new bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, Mr. Davor confirmed that the Ghana Highways Authority and the Assembly have commenced rehabilitation work on the existing structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, Member of Parliament for the Akwatia constituency, Henry Boakye Yiadom, has&nbsp; visited the site and pledged to get it fixed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Residents traveling from Asamankese, Akwatia, and Boadua, Kade, New Abirem, and other parts of the Eastern Region have expressed concern over the poor condition of a bridge that connects the towns.
