{"id":7938,"date":"2024-08-27T16:45:44","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T16:45:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=7938"},"modified":"2024-08-27T16:45:46","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T16:45:46","slug":"motorway-expansion-the-time-has-come-to-renew-nkrumahs-legacy-to-ensure-it-continues-to-serve-the-people-akufo-addo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fishfmonline.com\/?p=7938","title":{"rendered":"Motorway expansion: The time has come to renew Nkrumah\u2019s legacy to ensure it continues to serve the people \u2013 Akufo-Addo."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Asddo has stated that originally commissioned in 1965 by Ghana\u2019s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, the Accra-Tema Motorway has been a vital artery for nearly six decades, carrying an average of 45,000 vehicles daily.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, the time has come to renew this legacy, and ensure it continues to serve the people of Ghana for generations to come, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Monday, 26th August 2024, Mr Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the commencement of work for the reconstruction of the Accra-Tema Motorway Expansion Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said that the Accra-Tema Motorway Expansion Project marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to modernize Ghana\u2019s infrastructure and ensure that our nation remains competitive in the 21st century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Accra-Tema Motorway Expansion Project is a pioneering initiative, being the first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the history of Ghana\u2019s road infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBy bringing together the expertise and resources of both the public and private sectors, with the strategic backing of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), we are setting a new standard for infrastructure development in our country. These projects, funded by the Government of Ghana and the African Development Bank, are designed to improve travel times and reduce vehicle operating costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI extend my deepest gratitude to the officials and professionals from the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Ministry of Finance, the Office of the Attorney General, the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund, and their consultants, whose tireless efforts have made this moment possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am particularly proud that the contractor for the first phase of this project is M\/S Maripoma Enterprise Ltd., a wholly Ghanaian-owned company. This is a testament to the capability and ingenuity of our domestic enterprises.
