President John Dramani Mahama has called for immediate action to address Ghana\u2019s looming power crisis, describing the situation as more severe than anticipated. <\/strong><\/p>\n

On his first day in office following his inauguration on January 7, 2025, the President issued strict directives to prevent further hardships for Ghanaians.<\/p>\n

During a meeting with a World Bank delegation, President Mahama underscored the critical need to stabilise the energy sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe transition has been smooth, but unexpected challenges in the energy sector require urgent attention. Ghana has the expertise to resolve this quickly and restore stability<\/em>,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n

The Institute for Energy Security (IES)<\/a> has also urged the new administration to act decisively to avert an impending energy crisis, popularly known as \u201cdumsor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Concerns about the crisis were earlier raised by John Jinapor,<\/a> Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu.<\/p>\n

Jinapor revealed that Ghana\u2019s fuel reserves are critically low, with only five hours of supply remaining. He criticised the outgoing administration for its failure to ensure sufficient fuel stock, leaving the incoming government to navigate a precarious situation.<\/p>\n
