New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has accepted the outcome of the party’s presidential primary and called on supporters to embrace unity rooted in mutual respect.

Speaking after the declaration of results by the Electoral Commission at the party headquarters in Accra on Saturday, January 31, Mr. Agyapong said he had formally accepted the outcome and pledged his support to the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“I stand before you to pledge my support and also to accept the results declared by the EC. The delegates have spoken, and I want to plead with my supporters that they should stay calm and respect the results and help all of us to work together to win the 2028 elections,” he said.

He urged his supporters to take the outcome in good faith, noting that winning and losing are part of the democratic process.

“I want to thank my supporters and advise you that in an election, you can win and lose. So if you lose, you need to accept it in good faith,” he added.

Mr. Agyapong further appealed for party unity, stressing that cohesion within the NPP must be built on respect for differing views.

“So let’s all of us throw our support to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer, and all I say is NPP we need unity in the party, but unity comes with respect. we have to respect each other’s views,” he stated.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won the NPP flagbearer race with 110,643 votes, representing 56.48 percent. Kennedy Agyapong placed second with 46,554 votes, representing 23.76 percent, while Dr. Bryan Acheampong came third with 36,303 votes, representing 18.53 percent.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum placed fourth with 1,999 votes, representing 1.02 percent, while Kwabena Agyei Agyepong came fifth with 402 votes, representing 0.21 percent.

Meanwhile, the remaining three aspirants also congratulated the former vice president and pledged their unflinching support.
