The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is investigating an alleged criminal conspiracy resulting in a financial loss of approximately GH¢27 million to SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.

As part of the investigations, the immediate past Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Mrs Amma Frimpomaa Duwah, has honoured an invitation by the office and is cooperating with investigators.

Similarly, the Member of Parliament for Suame, Mr John Darko, has appeared before officials of the office and has since been granted enquiry bail in connection with the ongoing investigation.

A press statement issued by the office, dated October 13, 2026, said Mr Darko honoured the invitation and reported to its head office at 12 noon on October 13, 2026, to assist investigators with information relevant to the case.

The office said the MP was cooperative and responsive throughout the investigative process, leading to the grant of enquiry bail.

“Having regard to the circumstances of the case, the applicable law and the Honourable Member’s level of cooperation with investigators, the Office granted him enquiry bail,” the statement read.

Investigation ongoing

The office said the investigation was ongoing and that no conclusion had been reached regarding the culpability or otherwise of any person connected to the matter.

It also disclosed that the former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Mrs Amma Frimpomaa Duwah, had honoured its invitation and was cooperating with investigators.

The office said investigations into the alleged criminal conspiracy were progressing steadily in accordance with its case theory. It urged the public to note that the investigation remained active and that no determination had been made regarding the responsibility of any individual connected to the matter.

“As the investigation remains active, no conclusion has been reached regarding the culpability or otherwise of any person connected to the matter,” the statement read.
