The English Premier League delivered another weekend of excitement, surprises and dramatic finishes, with Nottingham Forest producing one of the biggest upsets of the season by defeating Manchester City 3-1 at the City Ground.

League leaders Arsenal maintained their impressive form with a narrow 1-0 victory over Hull City, while Brighton climbed to second place following a 2-0 win against Brentford.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United and Aston Villa shared eight goals in a thrilling 4-4 encounter, while Sunderland stunned Chelsea with a 1-0 victory. Liverpool also returned to winning ways with an impressive 3-1 away victory over Crystal Palace.

Nottingham Forest stun Manchester City

The biggest talking point of the weekend was undoubtedly Nottingham Forest’s impressive 3-1 victory over Manchester City.

Forest made a flying start, with Jair Cunha opening the scoring in the sixth minute before Liam Delap doubled the advantage in the 18th minute.

Manchester City attempted to fight back, and Rayan Cherki reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute. However, Delap struck again in the 73rd minute to complete his brace and secure a memorable victory for Forest.

The defeat represents City’s third consecutive Premier League loss and leaves them six points behind Arsenal.

For Forest, the victory provides a significant boost in their battle to move away from the relegation zone.

Arsenal maintain top spot with narrow Hull victory

Arsenal continued their impressive title defence with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hull City at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners dominated much of the contest but struggled to find a breakthrough against a determined Hull defence.

Captain Martin Ødegaard eventually came to Arsenal’s rescue in the 72nd minute, reacting quickest to a rebound to score the only goal of the game.

The result takes Arsenal to 27 points after ten matches, maintaining their position at the top of the Premier League table.

Leeds United defeat Tottenham

Leeds United secured a valuable 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road.

After a closely contested encounter, substitute Noah Okafor proved to be the difference, scoring in the 79th minute to give Leeds all three points.

The victory ended Leeds’ five-match winless run in the league and provided a welcome boost for their supporters.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will be disappointed after failing to capitalise on their opportunities.

Manchester United and Aston Villa share eight goals

Old Trafford witnessed one of the most entertaining matches of the weekend as Manchester United and Aston Villa played out a remarkable 4-4 draw.

Aston Villa stunned the home supporters by scoring twice within the opening five minutes through Alysson and Nicolas Jackson.

Manchester United responded through Bruno Fernandes and Youri Tielemans to restore parity.

Villa regained control in the second half, with John McGinn converting a penalty before Leon Goretzka extended their advantage.

However, United refused to surrender. Joshua Zirkzee pulled one back in stoppage time before Patrick Dorgu scored a dramatic 96th-minute equaliser to rescue a point for the hosts.

Despite the late comeback, Manchester United remain in the relegation zone, sitting 18th with just eight points from ten matches.

Liverpool return to winning ways

Liverpool produced a convincing performance to defeat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Selhurst Park.

Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring in the 40th minute before Florian Wirtz doubled Liverpool’s advantage shortly after the restart.

Alexander Isak added a third in the 89th minute, seemingly putting the result beyond doubt.

Crystal Palace managed a late consolation through Eddie Nketiah, who converted a stoppage-time penalty.

The victory moves Liverpool into fourth place, while Crystal Palace’s disappointing run continues, leaving them at the bottom of the table.

Sunderland shock Chelsea

One of the weekend’s biggest surprises came at the Stadium of Light, where Sunderland secured a 1-0 victory over Chelsea.

Enzo Le Fée converted a first-half penalty in the 36th minute to give Sunderland the lead.

Chelsea enjoyed considerable possession after the break but struggled to break down Sunderland’s organised defence.

The result represents a major setback for Chelsea’s ambitions of securing a Champions League qualification position, while Sunderland will take enormous encouragement from defeating one of the league’s leading clubs.

Brighton move into second place

Brighton continued their impressive campaign with a 2-0 victory over Brentford.

Diego Gómez opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a spectacular long-range effort.

Brentford’s task became even more difficult when Igor Thiago was sent off following a VAR review in the 23rd minute.

Pascal Groß converted a penalty in the 42nd minute to give Brighton a comfortable two-goal advantage.

The victory takes Brighton to 22 points, moving them into second place and five points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Bournemouth continue impressive run

Bournemouth maintained their excellent form with a 2-1 away victory over Ipswich Town.

Evanilson gave Bournemouth an early lead in the fifth minute following a costly error by the Ipswich goalkeeper.

Bournemouth doubled their advantage shortly after the restart when Leif Davis turned the ball into his own net.

Ipswich reduced the deficit through Jack Clarke’s penalty in the 73rd minute but could not find an equaliser.

The victory represents Bournemouth’s fourth consecutive Premier League win and strengthens their position among the league’s emerging contenders.

Fulham and Newcastle share the points

Fulham and Newcastle United played out a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage.

Newcastle appeared to have secured all three points when Jacob Murphy scored in the 80th minute.

However, Fulham responded just three minutes later through Rodrigo Muniz to rescue a point for the home side.

Everton secure victory over Coventry

Friday night’s action saw Everton record a convincing 3-1 victory over Coventry City.

Coventry initially took the lead through Y. Gboho, but Everton responded strongly, with Thierno Barry scoring twice before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added a third goal to complete the comeback.

The result provided Everton with an important three points as they look to improve their position in the league.

THE TITLE RACE: ARSENAL SET THE PACE

As the Premier League heads into the international break, Arsenal remain firmly in control of the title race with 27 points from ten matches.

Brighton have emerged as serious contenders, occupying second place with 22 points, while Manchester City have slipped six points behind the leaders following their latest defeat.

Liverpool’s return to winning ways has strengthened their position in the top four, while Chelsea will need to respond quickly after their disappointing defeat to Sunderland.

At the other end of the table, Manchester United and Crystal Palace face growing pressure as they continue to struggle for consistency.

With ten matches played, the Premier League season is beginning to take shape, but there is still plenty of football ahead and the battle for the title, European places and survival promises more drama.
