In a horrifying incident that has shocked the community of Asuoso in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region, a 30-year-old mason, identified as Shadrack, locally known as Kwaata, is alleged to have brutally killed his girlfriend and two innocent children, including a two-week-old baby. The suspect is also accused of poisoning his four-year-old stepson.

The victims have been identified as Portia Yerebe, 25, Shadrack’s girlfriend, and the two deceased children, Nti Joseph (four years old) and the two-week-old infant. The tragic event unfolded on Monday, January 29, 2024.

According to local residents, the mother of Portia Yerebe became alarmed when she visited her daughter’s residence in the morning to bathe the baby but found the room locked. Returning later in the evening and still finding the room sealed, she grew increasingly concerned. Upon seeking assistance from community leaders, they collectively decided to break into the room.

Upon gaining entry, they were met with a gruesome scene, discovering the lifeless bodies of the three victims. The suspect, Shadrack, is believed to have killed Portia Yerebe using a sharp object, evidenced by severe cuts on her neck with blood visibly oozing. The two children showed signs of poisoning, with foam present around their mouths.

Following the discovery, the community leaders promptly informed the police, who have initiated a manhunt for the fugitive suspect, currently on the run. The bodies have been conveyed to a morgue for autopsy.

The motive behind this heinous crime remains unclear, and the community is left grappling with shock and grief over the senseless loss of three lives.
