The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has rubbished claims that the Inspector General Of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, can rig the 2024 elections.

Some politicians have raised concerns that the IGP can rig elections resulting from a leaked tape that has gone viral indicating former President and the flag bearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has promised IGP his job hence he will work in favor to bring the Opposition NDC back to power.

According to Mr. Braimah, Former President John Agyekum Kufour won in the tenure of an IGP, John Kudalor, who was appointed by late President Jerry John Rawlings, hence there’s no basis in what they are spewing.

He added that the IGP doesn’t conduct elections and not even a polling station officer also doesn’t deploy police officers, presiding, or collation officers.

Mr. Braimah advised political parties to focus on doing the right thing and leave partisanship aside.
