Interior Minister Renews Curfew Hours For Chereponi, Nkwanta & Bomaa

The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey has by Executive Instrument renewed the curfew hours for Chereponi Township and its environs in the North East Region.

The new hours start from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am effective, Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

“Government continues to urge Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.

“Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the afore-mentioned communities and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” a statement issued by the Interior Ministry said.

Also, on the advice of the Oti Regional Security Council and by the Executive Instrument, Mr Quartey imposed curfew on Nkwanta Township in the Oti Region from 5:00pm – 6:00am effective Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

Regarding the Bomaa Township and its environs in the Ahafo Region, the hours have been renwed from 11:00 pm to 4:00am effective Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

“The government wishes to appeal to all to exercise restraint and to use the established mechanisms for the resolution of all their conflicts and disputes.

“Meanwhile, Government will like to reiterate that, there is a ban on all persons in Nkwanta Township and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement said.
