Security Analyst, Dr. Adam Bonaa, has blamed the rate at which gun-related crimes have been happening in Ghana on the proliferation of illegal firearms.

To solve this problem, he has asked the government to review the small arms law.

Speaking in relation to the killing of two off-duty police officers at Trassacco, Thursday, May 2, he said: “The government must take a look at small arms law, The proliferation of illicit firearms in the hands of hoodlums is causing these things.”

The Police announced that two of their men who were off-duty were shot at by unknown gunmen at Trassacco Valley in Accra.

The incident happened on Thursday, May 2, the police said.

The Police in a statement said they are on a manhunt for the gunmen.

“The Ghana Police Service is on a manhunt for two gunmen who fatally shot two off duty Police officers sitting in front of their private residence at Block factory, East Trassacco, Accra, today Thursday 2nd May 2024 at about 6:00pm.

“The gunmen did not take anything from the victims and sped off on a motorbike.

“An intelligence-led operation to get the suspects arrested is currently ongoing,” the Police statement said.
