Ghana youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has described helping Leicester City gain promotion to the Premier League as one of the best moments in his career.

The 20-year-old said this after the club announced his permanent signing on Tuesday on a five-year deal from Sporting CP.

Fatawu played for the Foxes last season and was instrumental in helping them gain promotion.

“For me, [to win promotion] was amazing,” Fatawu said. “It felt so good and it was one of the best moments in my career. I feel so good and I just want to keep going.”

His impactful performances in the Championship played a pivotal role in Leicester City’s triumphant season, culminating in their title-winning campaign and subsequent promotion to the Premier League.

During last season’s 43 appearances across various competitions, Fatawu showcased his talent with seven goals, including a memorable hat-trick in a commanding 5-0 victory over Southampton at Filbert Way.

To mark his permanent signing, the club went the extra mile by collaborating with local band and passionate supporters, The Mercians. At a ceremony held at King Power Stadium, the Coalville-based musicians surprised Fatawu with a special rendition of the Blue Army’s distinctive chant.
