The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Manish Gupta has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, in Accra on Tuesday, August 13.

The meeting which is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries explored possible areas of collaboration between India and Ghana.

Hon. Abubakar commended India for the implementation of the Right to Information Law and how well the protocols were being followed to ensure transparency and accountability.

She called for partnership between the Ministry and the High Commission to help build the capacity of staff at the Access to Information Division of the Information Services Department to build on their expertise.

The minister appealed for assistance in rehabilitating the Information Services Department’s Library to be able to archive Ghana’s film materials.

The High Commissioner expressed India’s willingness to share expertise and assist the Ministry with its request.

The other areas of potential collaboration between the two countries include a potential partnership between the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and the Indian National Television to share experiences and promote cultural understanding.
