The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare has told the political parties to cooperate with the police to ensure incident-free elections this year.

He assured that the Police are ready to ensure law and order before, during and after the polls but they will require the support of all stakeholders including the parties.

Speaking in a meeting with representatives of the political parties in Accra on Thursday, November 21, Dr Dampare told them that as they prepare to celebrate their possible victory, they should also have a plan on how to endure their possible defeat.

“As you plan to celebrate your possible victory, plan to also celebrate your defeat or endure it, knowing that only one will win,” he said.

He further stated “As long as everybody plays their role Ghana will win.

“We  are ready for the elections, we need your support to ensure that our plan works for the sake of Ghana.”
