Tamale records 2 fire cases in a day.

Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region, recorded two fires in one day, resulting in the destruction of property worth various sums.

The two fire cases were recorded on Monday, January 6, with the first case involving a home appliances warehouse located at Zogbeli, which was razed by the fire, which started around 1000 hours GMT.

The second case was the burning of the Timber Market at Aboabo, which started around 21 hours GMT, destroying shops, wood, machinery among other valuable equipment.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were on hand at the two locations doing their best to put the fires under control.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Grade II (ACFOII) Mr Franklin Masiku, Northern Regional Commander, GNFS, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the Command received a distress call of a fire outbreak on the warehouse at 1038 hours and responded swiftly to attend to the fire.

On the fire at the Timber Market, Assistant Divisional Officer Grade II (ADOll) Mr Hudu Baba, Public Relations Officer, GNFS, Northern Region, told the GNA that the Command received a distress call on the situation at a late hour and swiftly responded to it.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known but personnel of the GNFS had begun investigations to unravel the cause.
