A comprehensive four-day tour of regional and teaching hospitals across the country will be undertaken by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health from Tuesday, 22nd April to Friday, 25th April 2025.

The initiative has been launched to ensure that the current state of healthcare delivery is evaluated, key challenges are identified, and actionable strategies are formulated to improve services within Ghana’s health sector.

The nationwide assessment will be carried out by Members of Parliament who have been divided into three teams.

Visits will be made by “team one” to Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, Nalerigu Regional Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Tamale Regional Hospital, and Wa Regional Hospital.

The second team has been assigned to Damongo Regional Hospital, Techiman Regional Hospital, Sunyani Regional Hospital, and Goaso Regional Hospital.

The third team will conduct visits to Kumasi Regional Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Koforidua Regional Hospital, Ho Regional Hospital, Ho Teaching Hospital, and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.

The healthcare infrastructure and quality of service delivery at each institution will be assessed during the tour.

According to David Sebastian Damoah, Director of Media Relations, direct engagement with health professionals and stakeholders will be undertaken, and detailed accounts of operational challenges will be received by the Committee. He added that a first-hand understanding of these issues will be gained by Members of Parliament, and the findings will be used to guide parliamentary oversight and inform national health policy and also, input from hospital staff and management will be welcomed, and stakeholders are being encouraged to participate actively during the visits.

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Health is tasked with the oversight of Ghana’s health policies, programmes, and institutions.

Through this initiative, the Committee’s commitment to ensuring an accessible, efficient, and responsive healthcare system for all citizens is being reinforced.
