US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has reiterated that the US does not want to economically decouple from China, but seeks more “balance” in trade.

“The consensus from both delegations is neither side wants to be decoupled, and what have occurred with these very high tariffs…was an equivalent of an embargo, and neither side wants that. We do want trade. We want more balance in trade,” he said at a Monday press conference in Geneva.

Last week, Bessent told Fox News: “We don’t want to decouple; what we want is fair trade.”
