Concern government workers in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region have announced to petition the Asutifi North District Assembly and traditional leaders (nananom) over the rising cost of living in the district.

Speaking on Adekyee Mu Nsem on Fish Tv/Fm the convener, Mr. Antwi Boasiako Nicholas, lamented on the cost of rent in communities such as Kenyasi, Ntotroso, Wamahinso, and Gyedu has become unbearably high, making it difficult for government workers to reside in these towns.

He called on the Rent Control Department, local chiefs, and the District Chief Executive (DCE) to intervene and help address the situation.

Mr. Boasiako also noted that the prices of goods and services in the district have increased significantly, largely due to the presence of the Newmont mining operations in the area.

He further expressed concerns about the health risks government workers face as a result of the mining activities, stressing the need to provide health allowances.
