The Upper East Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sanctioned 16 party officials and members from the Pusiga and Tempane constituencies for various acts of misconduct during the 2024 general elections.
In a statement signed by Regional Chairman Anthony Namoo and dated August 1, 2025, the party disclosed that the disciplinary action follows a thorough investigation by the Regional Disciplinary Committee, which began on January 25, 2025.
According to the statement, hearings were conducted in March, and the committee submitted its findings in June, leading to the decisions announced in August.
Among those sanctioned is Sawuda Bilgumsey, the 2nd Vice Chairman, who has been removed from office and banned from holding any party position until he refunds monies he is alleged to have misappropriated.
Five individuals, including Salifu Ibn Adams, the Constituency Research and Elections Officer, were exonerated after being found not guilty of the allegations leveled against them.
The party has directed that all affected officers be replaced in accordance with its internal rules and procedures.
The Regional Executive Committee emphasised that the disciplinary action is intended to uphold party discipline and ensure accountability among its members.
5-year ban: Six officials, including Musah Awudu, 1st Vice Chairman and Jacob Akazusah, Treasurer, have been removed from office and barred from holding any party position for five years.
4-year ban: One coordinator has been dismissed and banned for four years.
3-year ban: Eight members, including polling station officers and party members, have been barred from positions for three years.
