The Ghana Police Service has conducted an assurance parade in Akwatia on Sunday, August 31, 2025, ahead of the by-election scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
The exercise is part of measures by the police to reassure residents, stakeholders, and political parties of their readiness to maintain law and order before, during, and after the polls.
An assurance parade—a standard security practice ahead of major elections—demonstrates the police’s preparedness to respond swiftly to any breaches of the peace and deters acts of violence or intimidation.
The Ghana Police Service also used the parade to remind voters in Akwatia of the electoral rules to follow on election day.
They reiterated their commitment to ensuring a peaceful and credible by-election and urged the public and all political actors to cooperate with security agencies for a smooth electoral process.
