The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has reportedly picked up the leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, at his base in Kumasi.
Sources say the dawn operation was conducted by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) from the Headquarters in Accra, working in coordination with the agency’s Ashanti Regional Office.
According to insiders, the arrest was carried out without incident.
Though the specific reasons for the arrest remain unclear, the suspect is said to be on his way to Accra, where he is expected to assist investigators with ongoing inquiries.
EOCO has not yet released an official statement on the matter.
