A man believed to be in his late 30s, identified as Martin Issah, has allegedly been shot dead by unknown gunmen at Aketechieso, a mining community in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2025, when Martin Issah and his brother, Daniel Issah, were returning from mining work at Adomanu.

Upon reaching Aketechieso, they were reportedly ambushed by unknown gunmen who demanded their gold detector machine.

Confirming the incident to Citi News, the Assembly Member for the Aketechieso–Amamuom–Anakyirem Electoral Area, Krobea Asante, said the deceased was shot in the face, while his brother sustained gunshot wounds but managed to escape.

He appealed for intensified police patrols in the area, warning that the situation could escalate if not addressed promptly.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue, while the injured brother is receiving treatment.

Police have since commenced investigations into the incident.
