Two suspects wanted in connection with an ongoing gold smuggling case have been arrested and arraigned before the High Court in Accra.
The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) in a statement said the suspects — Abdul Karim Alhassan and Sadique Abubakar — were among four individuals earlier declared wanted for alleged involvement in gold smuggling, conspiracy to smuggle gold, and transporting gold without a license.
According to the statement, both suspects voluntarily turned themselves in and have since been charged before the High Court. They have been granted bail but remain in lawful custody pending the fulfillment of their bail conditions and the continuation of court proceedings.
GoldBod noted that two other suspects — Mohammed Afsal Puthalan and Mohammed Refeeq Nandoli, also known as Salam — are still on the run.
The public has been urged to provide any credible information on their whereabouts to the Ghana Police Service or the Ghana Gold Board.
A bounty of One Million Ghana Cedis (GHS 1,000,000) has been placed on each of the remaining suspects for information leading to their arrest.
