The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is set to embark on a three-day State Visit to Ghana from Sunday, November 2, to Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the visit will begin officially on Monday with an inspection of a full military Guard of Honour at the Forecourt of The Presidency in Accra. President Steinmeier will then hold a closed-door meeting with President John Dramani Mahama, followed by bilateral talks between their respective delegations in the Credentials Room.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Ghana-Germany relations, with emphasis on trade, investment, technology, and development cooperation.
A State Luncheon will be hosted in honour of the visiting German President and his delegation at the Presidential Banquet Hall later in the afternoon.
As part of his visit, President Steinmeier will tour the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he will lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He is also expected to engage with young Ghanaian IT specialists and later attend a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence.
On Tuesday, the final day of his visit, President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi, where he will perform a sod-cutting ceremony at the Kumasi Technical Institute. He will also meet with the Vice Chancellor, staff, and alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The German leader will then visit the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research and pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace before departing Ghana later that evening.
The visit is expected to further deepen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation between Ghana and Germany across multiple sectors.
