Robert Nyamalor, father of 22-year-old Priscilla Nyamalor, has described her death in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment stampede at El-Wak Sports Stadium as heartbreaking.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, November 13, he said:

Priscilla, who worked at CBG Bank’s Kasoa branch, was among six people who died during the stampede on Wednesday, November 12. Two of the deceased, including Priscilla, were from Kasoa.

The GAF confirmed that six people lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.

In response to the tragedy, the GAF has temporarily suspended the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise in Accra to implement additional safety measures and ensure a smooth and secure process. This issue has broken my heart. When I heard about it, I was very sad. I was at home when I was informed about the matter. She said she was going for the recruitment and would come back, but she never returned,” he cried.  The incident has also sparked debate in Parliament. While some lawmakers defended statements made by Pusiga MP Laadi Ayii Ayamba, describing them as religious expressions taken out of context, others argue that her comments reflect a disconnect between Ghana’s political elite and the challenges faced by ordinary citizens, particularly unemployed youth.
