The Minority Caucus in Parliament has expressed concern over the recent High Court ruling nullifying the 2024 parliamentary election results in the Kpandai Constituency.

They insist that the 2024 process had been transparent and the outcome reflected the will of the electorate.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 24, the caucus outlined that the disputed MP, Mathew Nyindam, won the election by a margin of 3,734 votes.

The Minority claimed that following the declaration of the presidential results, the NDC parliamentary candidate, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, arrived at the collation centre with supporters in an attempt to disrupt proceedings, damaging ballot boxes and creating security risks.

This, they said, forced the Electoral Commission to move the final declaration to its regional office in Tamale, where Mr Nyindam was declared the winner with 27,947 votes against 24,213 for Mr Wakpal.

The statement, signed by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, said the NDC candidate later filed a court challenge citing his absence from Tamale and minor clerical errors in 41 polling stations.

The Minority argued that even if all imputed votes, around 500, had been awarded to Mr Wakpal, he would still have lost by over 3,000 votes.
