The Russian Embassy in Ghana says it has taken note of media reports in Ghana concerning the alleged involvement of a supposed Russian national in sexual activities with some Ghanaian women and secretly recording the encounters without their consent.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, February 16, 2026, the Embassy said the reports circulating in the Ghanaian media relate to claims that a man believed to be Russian engaged in sexual relations with Ghanaian women and recorded the acts without their knowledge or approval.

“The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Ghana has taken note of the reports in the Ghanaian media on the alleged involvement of a supposedly Russian citizen engaged in sexual activities with some Ghanaian women and recorded those acts without consent,” the statement said.

The Embassy did not, however, confirm the identity or nationality of the individual involved, nor did it disclose whether it has formally verified the claims or initiated any engagement with Ghanaian authorities on the matter.

The post comes amid growing public concern and social media discussions over allegations that a foreign national had secretly filmed intimate encounters with multiple women in Ghana and stored or shared the videos.

In recent days, Ghanaian social media platforms and some online news outlets have carried claims that a foreign man, believed to be Russian, was involved in a scheme that targeted Ghanaian women for sexual encounters, which were allegedly recorded without their knowledge.

The allegations have sparked outrage, with many Ghanaians calling for a thorough investigation and prosecution if the claims are substantiated.

Secretly recording sexual acts without consent is a criminal offence under Ghana’s laws and can attract severe penalties, including imprisonment.
