Ignite Media Group, operators of Metro TV Ghana, has issued a full and unreserved apology to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over comments made by a guest on its platform.
In a statement signed by management, the media house said the apology follows “regrettable and distasteful statements” made by Mr. Julius Kwame Anthony, Deputy Communications Director of the NDC, during his appearance on Good Morning Ghana on Monday, November 2, 2026.
“Upon sober reflection, we acknowledge that the said statements were inappropriate, unwarranted, and fell short of the high journalistic and ethical standards we uphold at Metro TV. We deeply regret allowing those comments to pass without immediate retraction, moderation, and reframing on the platform,” the statement said.
Metro TV said it takes full responsibility for the lapse and stated unequivocally that the views expressed by the NDC communicator do not reflect the position, values, or editorial policy of Ignite Media Group or Metro TV Ghana.
“We extend our sincerest apologies to H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to the NPP, and to all viewers who were offended by the broadcast,” the statement added.
The station said it remains committed to upholding professionalism, fairness, balance and respect for all persons and political actors on its platform, and assured viewers that concrete steps have been taken to prevent any such recurrence.
