The Atasemanso Police have arrested a woman for dumping her baby girl at an Astro Turf Park at Atasemanso in Kumasi.

According to reports, the woman, identified as Hilda, was said to have left her baby at the place at around 3am on Tuesday unattended to.

The little girl, who was covered with a cloth when she was found, started crying a few minutes after her mother left, drawing the attention of residents, who rescued her.


The discovery of the baby attracted a number of people to the scene, who sent her to the Atasemanso Police Station.

The police then advised that the baby be taken to the hospital, as search for her mother immediately began.

According to reports, a certain man claimed that one Hilda, who lives at Atasemanso, was the mother of the baby.

This man alleged that he saw Hilda, who is a nursing mother, dumping the baby there around 3am on Tuesday.

Unconfirmed reports indicated that the said Hilda has since been arrested and is assisting in investigations.
