The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has stated that the party will deploy drones to monitor the December 7 polls in the region.

Ashie Moore revealed that constituency executives in the coming weeks will be trained on how to operate drones as part of a “comprehensive plan” by the party to be vigilant in the December 7 general elections.

“Next week, we are going to train constituency executives on how to use drones to monitor what happens during the elections,” Ashie Moore told a teeming crowd of party supporters.

The main goal of the initiative, according to Ashie Moore, is to secure over two million votes for the party while also strengthening monitoring procedures to detect any potential anomalies.

However, details regarding the deployment remain unclear. Ashie Moore emphasised the party’s commitment to securing all necessary resources for a peaceful electoral process.

Meanwhile, the party’s two-time flagbearer and Ghana’s first one-term president, John Dramani Mahama, has charged party members to be “extra vigilant” in the December 7 elections.

Mahama who was engaging party members in the region emphasised the critical role of vigilance, indicating that, “One of the key things in this election is vigilance, we can do all the campaigning we want, but if we are not vigilant on the day, and we don’t cover every single polling station with eagles’ eyes, you can do all the beautiful things you can, razzmatazz, and in the end, you don’t achieve the target you want.”

“So, Greater Accra Region, we want you to cover all the polling stations with the best party agents. The election directory, you are aware, is conducting some exercises.

“They’ve been conducting exams for election directors in their constituencies and the regions because we need the best people who understand the electoral system to be able to monitor the elections in the region,” the former President added.
