Police in Asokore Mampong have mounted a search for criminals behind the killing of a three-year-old girl whose body was found without the tongue.

The girl had been declared missing three days ago at Dagombaline, within the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Children playing football in the vicinity, on Saturday morning stumbled upon the body while retrieving their ball from a building housing police officers.

The body was found on the top floor of the building, currently undergoing renovation following a recent fire outbreak.

The victim, Taslima Labaran, a twin, had been missing since Thursday, after several attempts to find her proved futile.

Rukaya Muntari, in a report to the police, said she left her three-year-old child in the house to go and buy food, but upon her return, she couldn’t find her daughter.

Several search attempts in the vicinity did not yield any positive results until her lifeless body was discovered Saturday morning.

The body has been deposited at the morgue as police commence investigations.

No arrest has been made yet as at the time of filing this report.
