Seven out of the ten passengers who drowned on the Oti River in the Krachi East District have been rescued alive.

Three are currently missing but the search is ongoing.

Those missing are a 4-year-old baby girl, a pregnant woman, and an elderly man.

The Krachi East Municipal National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Director, Dasievor Jacob, told Onua News that the seven who were rescued were taken to hospital for treatment.

He said they were discharged and are currently in their various homes.

Mr. Dasievor the search is still ongoing to either rescue the rest and retrieve their bodies.

The ten passengers drowned on Tuesday evening when a boat in which they were travelling on the Oti River capsized.

The boat, which took off from Dambai, was heading towards Njari, a farming and fishing community in the Krachi East Municipality when the disaster struck.
